WAIFF is an independent, annual gathering dedicated to advancing Shariah-compliant banking, capital markets and social finance across West Africa.
Our mission
Islamic finance is one of the fastest-growing segments of global finance, yet West Africa captures only a small share of it despite having some of the world's largest Muslim-majority populations. WAIFF was founded to change that — bringing together central banks, regulators, Islamic financial institutions, takaful operators, sukuk issuers, fintech innovators and international investors under one roof to accelerate the region's Islamic finance agenda.
What we do
Each year, WAIFF hosts a three-day programme of keynotes, regulatory roundtables, market briefings and deal-making sessions. Beyond the annual forum, WAIFF works with regional bodies such as ECOWAS and UEMOA on policy harmonisation, and publishes research tracking the growth of Islamic banking, sukuk and takaful markets across the region.
